Why I actually wrote this
My outdoor Christmas lights timer died mid-December and of course it happened during the one week I actually had time to decorate. I went looking for a quick replacement and got kind of overwhelmed by how many "smart plug" listings there were, half of them clearly not meant for outdoor use despite the photos showing them outside. I compared a couple of Tuya-based options since I already use that app for other things at home, and this waterproof socket ended up being the one with the clearest spec sheet about the IP rating. It arrived faster than I expected and paired with the app in about two minutes. Now the lights just turn on at dusk automatically and I genuinely forget it's there, which is exactly what you want from something bolted to your porch.
