We picked up a slow tire leak on a road trip through absolutely nowhere, cell signal included, and I realized my emergency kit had a tire gauge but nothing that could actually put air back into the tire. We limped to the next town at 15 miles an hour with the hazards on, which is not how anyone wants to spend an afternoon.
Once we got home I compared buying a separate jump starter and a separate air compressor against getting one combined unit, talking it over with my dad who's the type to have three of everything in his garage. He pointed out that carrying two separate devices in the trunk is just two more things to forget to charge.
This combined unit has ridden in the trunk ever since, and it's already topped off a slowly leaking tire once on a return trip without needing to find a gas station air pump. Having both functions in one box means I actually remember it's there.
